The former captain of the national football team; Papa Eto’o, has just ended a debate that has been trending on opinion polls lately.
In an interview on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 for France Football magazine, Cameroonian footballer Samuel Eto’o gave a definitive answer on the possibility of his return to the indomitable lions den as a player during the CAN 2019, scheduled to take place in Cameroon.
This rumor has fueled the columns and talk shows on the continent since last February when Samuel Eto’o was seen with Dieudonné Happi , chairman of the Fecafoot Normalization Committee.
For Samuel Eto’o, there is “a generation coming, they brilliantly won the last CAN. It’s up to them to shine [my absence from the team] is definitive,” he insists.
The Konyaspor striker (Turkey) nevertheless reassures his presence alongside these rising stars of Cameroonian football.
“At CAN 2019, I will be in the stands, I will give advice, but I will not take the place of a young man who dreams of giving a title to Cameroon,” he concludes.
Samuel Eto’o, in the same interview, also highlighted the role he played in the mediation between Cameroon and CAF , about the organization of the next CAN.
