In June 2020, the MEA Seed Challenge of Orange Ventures launched its call for applications from early stage technology start-ups in Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Senegal and Tunisia.
More than 500 applications received were carefully examined by the investment teams in collaboration with the local Orange Cameroon teams.
€ 670 000 euros will be invested following a very competitive selection process in the 07 selected start-ups including WASPITO for Cameroon.
WASPITO is an application which offers an E-health application with telemedicine services. The platforms aims to connect the health ecosystem in Africa and make health services and information more accessible to as many people as possible across the continent.
With features like teleconsultation, WASPITO allows a user to consult a doctor or healthcare professional remotely by video call. An integrated, physician–managed social health network that provides real times answers to patients’ questions.
Orange Cameroon and Orange Middle East and Africa Ventures congratulate and welcome WASPITO into the Orange community.
After the opening of the first Orange Digital Center in Central Africa in Douala, the setting up of the Orange Ventures MEA Seed, completes the plan put in place for the development of Cameroonians talents. Above all this action underlines the commitment of Orange in the innovation potential of the Cameroonian ecosystems.
