The Ministry of Small and Medium–sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts, began meeting and exchanging with some financial partners in a three-day event launched on Monday 12 July in Yaounde, to strengthen cooperation targeting SMEs in Cameroon.
The initiative which is in line with the government’s development strategy aims to establish ways through which national and international partners can better intervene “We are now trying to set up an original approach that will enable our country to be able to get financing and technical assistance.
“We also want to put together a structured document that will enable the partners to make a coordinated intervention in the three sectors that we are in charge of” The Minister of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Achille BASSILEKIN III disclosed.
The Minister described cooperation with financial partners as a veritable prerequisite for the development of the sector. He indicated that the resources provided by the State, remain limited; adding that however, there exist ways of financing through national and financial partnerships.
As better ways to improve the situation of SMEs in Cameroon are being sought, the Covid-19 stands as one of the main setbacks in the sector that has been struggling to survive throughout the outbreak.
