The tragic incident that involved a plane crashing into Africa’s largest lake and killing 19 persons, has left the survivors and bereaved families devastated.
The passenger plane crashed into Lake Victoria on Sunday, November 6, as it attempted to land in the lakeside town of Bukoba.
Of the 43 people on board there were 24 survivors who are said to be in shock and worry, though official sources say they are out of danger.
Tanzania’s Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said the rescued passengers were receiving treatment in hospital and were not seriously injured ‘but they are shocked and worried’ he said.
He also pointed out that the two pilots of the aircraft initially survived and managed to speak to local officials from the cockpit, but may have since died.
The tragedy has been blamed on bad weather.
