Samuel Eto’o has been in Cameroon for a few days. After being a spectator at an MTN Elite match during the weekend, the Cameroonian striker was received and granted audience by the Minister of Secondary Education, Nalova Lyonga, yesterday, Tuesday, June 5, 2018.
The main subject discussed during this meeting was the Anglophone crisis.
Nalova Lyonga wants to make the Cameroonian star contribute to the return of peace and serenity in schools in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon.
The idea of the Minister of Secondary Education is to use the aura of the footballer to calm tensions in the English-speaking regions of the country.
For nearly two years, separatist demands have led to bloody clashes between secessionists and Cameroonian defense forces, the taking of hostages, the burning of schools and administrative buildings.
The Ministry of Secondary Education plans to raid the two English-speaking regions with Samuel Eto’o. They want the footballer to accompany them in their process of promoting peace in these parts of the country.
The former Cameroonian international has said he is ready to do what it takes to ease tensions in these regions. “I am available for everything. Whether for you or my brothers. We can talk and eat together at the end of the day. If I can do anything, do not hesitate.Cameroon belongs to us all and we can not build it if we do not have this peace,” said Samuel Eto’o quoted by the daily Newspaper, Le Jour, edition of June 06, 2018.
The member of Konyaspor (Turkey) therefore, might soon be visiting the English-speaking regions of Cameroon.
