The joint case pitting the state of Cameroon against the outlawed consortium leaders Barrister Agbor Balla, Dr Fontem Neba, Mancho Bibixy and some 25 others reopens this Wednesday May 24, 2017 at the Military Tribunal in Yaounde.
Their hearing was again short-lived late in April and adjourns for at least the 3rd time, since their detention.
Barrister Agbor Balla, Dr. Fontem Neba, radio broadcaster Mancho Bibixy and at least 25 other youths have been incarcerated in the nation’s capital for over three months now.
The trio outlawed consortium leaders are being charge with terrorism, rebellion against the state, inciting civil unrest, secession breach of the constitution etc.
It is hopeful that the Military tribunal will decide their fate at the close of today’s hearing.
According to Cameroon news agency, the President of the General Assembly of Cameroon Bar, Barrister Nico Halle has been crusading for the release of the detainees with a recent call for amnesty from the Head of State.
The argument put forth by Barrister Nico Halle is that an amnesty will be the best option rather than a clemency, which can only be given after the verdict, and which will feature in their judicial files, CNA reports.
