Authorities in the Littoral region have said four suspects involved in the recent attacks on vehicles along the Yaounde – Douala highway, have been arrested.
On the night of Sunday March 12, breaking Monday, an attack on some commercial buses between Pouma and Edea, raised concerns about the security on the highway at night.
Sources indicate that the bandits used projectiles to smash the windshields of the cars, to cause an abrupt stop, before robbing passengers of their valuables.
In a press briefing after the incident, the Governor of the Littoral region Samuel Dieudonne Ivaha Diboua said “security forces went down on the field, four suspects got apprehended, and order has been established”.
He said the Senior Divisional Officers of the Littoral region have been instructed to tighten security in their areas of command. “Village heads will also have to create vigilante committees” the Governor indicated.
The Minister of Transport, Massena Ngalle Bibehe, has also released a communique reiterating the reinforcement of security in the concerned area.
