AU extends Nigeria’s AFRIMA hosting right for another 3 years

Nigeria’s right to host the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), has been extended for another three years (2017-2019) by the African Union.
This is contained in a statement signed by the nation’s Special Adviser to the Minister of Information and Culture Segun Adeyemi, and made public in Lagos on Sunday.
“The hosting right was given to the country following its successful hosting of the 2014-2016 editions,” the statement read in part.
According to reports, the hosting right was conveyed in a letter written to Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed, by the Commissioner of Social Affairs at the AU Commission, Amira Elfadil.
Mr Alhaji Lai said the AU commissioner lauded the growth and inclusiveness of AFRIMA, stating that between 2014 and 2016, during which Nigeria hosted three editions of AFRIMA, it has become a very crucial event and movement of African musicians.
All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, is designed to promote the distinct rich African music worldwide, engaging millions of fans by propelling African music to glorious pinnacles beyond the borders of Africa.
This year’s edition of the award show will be held on November 12, 2017 in Nigeria.
