Ballantines True music challenge winner; Larafina, gets her award !
Like most Cameroonians, the first time Larifina heard about Ballantine’s True Music Challenge was through online entertainment blogs that relayed the information and called on budding musicians to enter the contest.
Just two years into professional music, having practiced singing for years for the enjoyment of her family and at church, it was not without apprehension that she considered taking up the challenge. With the encouragement of her friends and mentors, she decided to enter the contest.
For Larifina, preparing her submission video was a real learning experience. After watching many videos posted online, she decided to put together the elements that would allow her video to stand out. It would also be an opportunity to show off his vocal abilities, his flair and his ability to follow the rhythm. She was convinced that she could go far, given the work she had provided, but she also feared that she would not be a sufficiently convincing candidate.
In the end, his efforts were rewarded. Larifina was one of the 15 candidates selected and subsequently in the top 5 of the finalists.
For its part, one of the greatest rewards of this challenge was the experience of the course. Having to be nimble and dot the i’s, on her own, allowed her to discover her immense potential and strength. Moreover, the culmination of this process was undoubtedly his meeting with Fally Ipupa, a great icon of music on the African continent. This meeting allowed him to learn to follow his dreams and the importance of work in order to achieve them.
Larifina is overjoyed to have won the award and says nothing could have happened without the people who believed in her and the fans who voted for her.
This victory reinforces her decision to pursue a career in music and she says that all the winnings from this competition will be reinvested in her musical career, both materially and immaterially.
