Bassogog signs with Turkey Super League club Ankaragucu

Cameroonian forward Christian Bassogog has made a move to Turkish first division club Ankaragucu, following his departure from Shanghai Shenhua in China.

After becoming a free agent, the 2017 AFCON winner and best player was earlier announced to join Gaziantep FK, where former Indomitable Lion, Nicolas Nkoulou plays. However, an agreement was not reached, leading to his move to Ankaragucu in the same league.

The 28-year-old will stay with his new club for one and a half year.

Bassogog’s transfer comes after six years spent in the Chinese Super League, where he played for Henan Jianye from 2017 to 2020, and Shanghai Shenhua from 2021 to 2024.

The forward has 44 caps with the Cameroon national team, and has scored seven goals since making his first appearance in 2016.
