The Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji, opened the second Bi-annual Conference of Regional Governors on the 9th of December in Yaounde, giving instructions to the Regional Administrators, and warning the public against any move to disrupt the upcoming AFCON, or any attempt to cause havoc during the end-of-year festivities.
Minister Atanga Nji challenged the Governors to mobilize the population within their respective jurisdictions, to serve as Cameroon’s hospitality ambassadors during the AFCON which comes up in January next year.
“We have told Politicians that Cameroonians want a peaceful AFCON and that they don’t want disturbances. During the AFCON, politicians should be reasonable. One politician said that he will fight and fight because he wants that the entire code be amended, and I said NO, if you want to fight, you need to have parliamentarians, you need to have senators, you need to have mayors. If you don’t have that representation, then you are not a politician who has anything to say” Paul Atanga Nji.
H warned that any attempt to disrupt public order “will be dealt with squarely”. The Minister said they are doing everything possible to ensure that each Cameroonian gives the best image possible of the country during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
For two days, the senior Administrative officials are expected to discuss security measures for hitchfree end-of-year festivities and the Total Energies 2021 AFCON, among other concerns tabled.
