Bidoung Mkpatt refutes doubts over Cameroon’s AFCON 2019 hosting rights

Cameroon Minister of Sports and Physical Education Pierre Ismaël Bidoung Mkpatt, has refuted speculations that Cameroon’s 2019 AFCON hosting rights will be stripped form the nation for lack of adequate infrastructures to host the tournament.
Mr Bidoung Mkpatt made the remark in a Press Conference held in Yaounde on Tuesday, where he reiterating that contrary to rumours, Cameroon remains the host of the 2019 continental football jamboree, and that the hosting rights of the competition have not and will not be given to another country.
The sports and physical education boss assured the public that the construction and renovation of Stadia and facilities to host the 2019 AFCON in Cameroon, will be completed three months before the start of the football tournament.
He also revealed that out of the 32 stadia awaited by CAF, 11 are ready, 14 are undergoing rehabilitation and seven are still under construction.
Mr Bidoung Mkpatt also stated that all the sports facilities to be used during the competition will be constructed and others renovated in conformity with the standards of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and, on record time.
The Sports Minister’s public assurance with regards to Cameroon’s 2019 AFCON hosting rights follows that of the outgoing Italian Ambassador to Cameroon Samuela Isopi, whose nation is involved in the construction of the Paul Biya stadium in Olembe.
The Italian diplomat made a public announcement on Monday that the facility will be delivered in October 2018.
