Several households in Bonaberi, Douala, have been in darkness for the past few days due to an interruption in electricity supply, and will still be facing the cuts for two more weeks, officials have said.
The burnt powerplant in the Bonassama neighbourhood is the cause. ENEO and SONATREL technicians have been on the site trying to bring the situation back to normal.
The Minister of Water and Energy Resources Gaston Eloundou Essomba, visited the location on Thursday, November 3, and said the works are likely to last for two weeks.
“We are going to supply about 50 percent of the households next Saturday, and will take one week to complete the other 50 percent” the Minister said.
Hundreds of households in the affected area are in a difficult situation, with huge material damages incurred, and some businesses put on hold.
