The Minister of Communication Rene Emmanuel Sadi has strongly decried the publication of pornographic content on the internet by some Cameroonians, underlining the fact that government will henceforth take serious action against any persons found guilty of such acts.
“In the face of such a breakdown in social morality which clearly reflects a retreat from our fundamental values, I wish to affirm that government will soon assume its responsibility. In as much as these criminal acts constitute serious violations of human rights and public order, it should be recalled that the relevant provisions of the criminal court in force condemn such despicable practices” the Communication Minister stated.
He said articles 263, 264, 265 of the criminal court, provide for the imposition of custodian sentences and fines for all those guilty of such acts of obscene publications that constitute public indecency.
“Our country is and remains the rule of law, with respect for human rights where the justice system, has the right to establish offenses and punish them if necessary in accordance with the law”.
These observations made by the government about a decline in moral values, come at a time when more Cameroonians of tender age are becoming internet users.
