PWD of Bamenda will face Astres of Douala in the final of the Cameroon Cup, after their semi-final victory against Union Sportive of Douala on Saturday 31 July 2021.
The current title holders of the Elite One championship, have promised their fans nothing but the trophy in this year’s Cameroon Cup competition, which will prove that they didn’t get the League title by chance but through merit.
“We are going to do the job again, we promised them, we came here and we did the job…. The fans should keep believing in us and keep supporting us, we promise them the cup and we are going to bring the cup” Boung Joel, man of the match against Union Douala.
Coach Pagou expressed the joy he feels when fans are happy “I’m feeling good, because when I see the supporters very happy, that makes me very happy again. So we’re very happy because we have continued our progress. We’re going to enjoy that victory before that final”.
The coach added that their triumph over USD came as a result of focus and respect of instructions by the players. “The secret against Union Sportive was just concentration. Because after having our victory during the round of 32, I told my guys that the main obstacle at that point is Canon. That if we pass them, the way to the final was open. So we won the match and Union was on our path and sorry for them, we had to pass” David Pagou.
Effective preparation before each match and respect of guidelines has been a key factor in PWD Bamenda’s success. The Abakwa boys await the date for the final, yet to be scheduled.
