BetaPipol The Chinese government, through the Chinese Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), has granted an amount of 1 million dollars (more than 530 million FCFA) to help ensure the continuity of care and basic services for nursing mothers, newborn babies and children.
This donation, which was remitted on December 31st, 2020 to the UNICEF Representation in Cameroon, will enable, among other things, “the acquisition of inputs and materials for vaccination against Measles-Rubella (RR), support for the most deadly diseases in children under 5, quality care for newborns in 20 health facilities. It will also involve acquiring personal protective equipment and treatment for COVID-19, equipment for the control and prevention of infections in communities and in health facilities, ” says the agency. United Nations organization dedicated to improving and promoting the condition of children.
For Jacques Boyer , UNICEF Representative in Cameroon, “China is one of UNICEF’s loyal partners and thanks to this project, critical health gaps in young children and women that could otherwise compromise their survival, development and well-being will be fulfilled,” he noted.
As for the Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon, His Excellency Wang Yingwu, he stressed that: “This is an opportunity to strengthen the collaboration with UNICEF and continue to protect vulnerable Cameroonian children against COVID 19, as well as ‘other diseases’.
