More cases of cholera are being recorded in Cameroon after Public Health Minister Dr. Manaouda Malachie, announced on November 1, that 9 cases of the pandemic had been confirmed in Ekondo Titi and one in Yaounde between 27 and 30 October 2021.
The sudden surge which is disturbing, has pushed health officials to reecho the need to be more cautious and respect control measures.
A communique published by the Minister of Public Health on Monday, November 1 reminding the population of control measures, reads: “In view of the resurgence of the cholera pandemic, the current situation shows 10 confirmed cases of which 9 cases are in the locality of Ekondo-Titi, and one in Yaounde.
“Dr. Manaouda Malachie, calls on the population to be more cautious and respect control measures notably:
- Systematically wash your hands before and after every meal
- Wash food before consuming it.
- Ensure that drinking water is safe
- Go to the nearest health facility if there are any suspicious symptoms such as diarrhea
- Call 1510 for any additional information”.
The Public Health Minister has also urged the population to continue respecting barrier measures against the COVID-19 pandemic, which is still a threat in Cameroon.
