Cameroon has received about 303,000 doses of the Jonhson and Johnson vaccine donated by the United States of America. While receiving the gift, the population was encouraged by health officials to get themselves vaccinated to prevent numerous deaths.
The Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Cameroon, made it clear for everyone to understand “we don’t want to see people dying in Cameroon from the variants like what is happening around the rest of the world. We’ve seen what it’s done in Indonesia, in Tunisia and we see what it’s doing in the United States to the people who have chosen not to get vaccinated”.
She further added that “the vaccine is effective in preventing people from dying. I really encourage every Cameroonian who has the opportunity to take this vaccine, it will save lives”.
During the event on Monday, July 26, the Minister of Public Health Manaouda Malachie revealed that Cameroon has so far recorded tremendous results in the reduction of the socioeconomic burden of the health crisis. However, the government remains alert, in line with recent developments of the pandemic across the globe which have become a major concern.
That is why Cameroonians are still encouraged to maintain preventive measures and get themselves vaccinated despite the progress that is being made in the country.
