It is noticed that a significant number of Cameroonians are still reluctant to get themselves vaccinated against Covid-19. With a new variant of the coronavirus gradually resurfacing, Dr Manaouda Malachie reassures the public that the vaccine has not killed anyone in Cameroon since the campaign began.
The Health minister’s reassuring statements came at the end of a meeting chaired by Prime minister Joseph Dion Ngute, on Thursday August 12, to evaluate government’s strategy in the fight against Covid-19.
“Out of the 450,000 persons that we have vaccinated so far, we have not had a serious case enough to prove that the vaccine is dangerous. This is not a vaccine for blacks, it is a vaccine against covid which up till today in Cameroon, has not killed anybody” Dr Manaouda Malachie explained.
He also said Cameroon is recording remarkable success in the management of the spread of the virus “with the strict measures taken by the Head of State and a smooth follow up conducted by the Head of government, we can say that the situation is under control, we have less than 30 persons who are in health facilities, we have around 11 persons who are on oxygen” the health boss pointed out.
Health officials in Cameroon are now focused on seeking ways to prevent the spread of new variants which are likely to lead to an increase in the number of positive covid cases.
