The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Minette Libom Li Likeng, was speaking during a seminar in Yaounde on December 23, during which she said Cameroon will not be left behind in digital economic development.
As one of the ways to increase familiarity with the cryptocurrency innovation, an event such as the seminar on Thursday, came to serve as a platform through which journalists specialized in economic reporting from public and private media organs in Cameroon, could be enlightened.
“Cryptocurrency is a new thing. It is very technical and difficult. The better we are trained about it, the more we will be prepared to avoid cyber criminality. We are very happy because we have trained many media men. Now that they are trained, they will better educate and sensitize the population” Telecommunications Minister.
“One thing in which Cameroon cannot be left behind is the development of the digital economy that creates blockchain and cryptocurrency. We must know about it, know how to manage it” Minette Libom Li Likeng said.
The cryptocurrency seminar in Yaounde was organized by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications. Participants during the event examined mechanisms that will facilitate the process of legalization and possibly the regulation of cryptocurrency use in Cameroon.
