Did Cameroon just send a delegation to USA to go and beg Donald Trump’s government?

A delegation led by Felix Manyu, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of relations with the Commonwealth, met on Monday November 25th in Washington(USA) with the Secretary of State for African Affairs, Tibor Nagy.

In the Cameroon Delegation, the Ministry of Commerce was strongly represented. See pictures :

We therefore suspect that this is indeed an approach to bring the TRUMP administration to the reintegration of Cameroon into the AGOA.

Recall that in a message to Congress, weeks ago, Trump said he would end Cameroon’s designation as a beneficiary of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) because “the Government of Cameroon currently engages in gross violations of internationally recognized human rights, [including] extrajudicial killings, arbitrary and unlawful detention, and torture.”

The country is set to lose its beneficiary status on Jan. 1. 2020.
