During
his secondary school days (form 3) in Cameroon, Mokambe had no difficulties becoming a
gospel artist. As a teenager then, he would
watch live performances of gospel songs from Pentecostal
churches. Motivated
by such spectacular
performances, he decided on doing music purposely for God, and since
then, the young gospel singer has been uplifting his artistry with amazing gospel hits.

In
2015, after some
meditation on his past days and talents
in Kumba, he finally committed himself full time as a professional gospel artist – with a unique
focus. His major objective is to change the
way people look at African gospel music. African
music should not be perceived as hand clapping three cords music, but as hard work resulting
in good music that everyone can dance to,
no matter their language or culture.

According to the young artist,
music is his only means of communicating to thank God for
his life, and to keep the light and blossom of
God upon his head. “There is so much God
does to our lives every day that we ignore. I believe if I can use my music to
at least appreciate him and reach out to people, it will be beautiful in God’s
eyes” he says.

Listening
to the instrumentals of Gospel music in Africa for
the past years, there has been little or no substantial change for a long time
and this has made gospel music less artistic, hence less attractive as compared to
other circular music genres. As an artist with
a different mindset on how the gospel music market should feel, Mokambe intends to first of all
concentrate on the kind of beats he will introduce into the gospel market.
