Complaints from some Cameroonian State officials, recently victims of impersonation, have led to the apprehension of their impostor Georges Aurélien Zouomo, following an investigation conducted by the Delegation for National Security.
The victims who included Cameroon’s Ambassador to France Ekoumou Andre Magnus among other personalities, tabled their complaints about the unscrupulous individual at the Delegation for National Security. He is said to have been targeting mainly high-profile personalities.
“When the suspect contacted his victims, he said that ‘I am the Ambassador of France…, the Head of State asked me to call you because he is satisfied with your work’” Police Superintendent Meva Vincent de Paul disclosed. “The suspect told his victims that to be received by the Head of State, you must pay your flight ticket. If the Head of State wants to receive me, he is foolish to say that I must be the one to buy my flight ticket” the Superintendent added.
The investigators tracked the culprit to Douala where he was arrested with the profiles of several other personalities he was impersonating. Reports have it that at the time of his arrest, he had over four million FCFA from mobile money transactions in his account.
The suspect finds himself in detention after he had told his victims that even the CIA could not situate him.
