A girl who visited her grandmother in Dschang, Menoua Division of the West region to spend the holiday, has gone missing.
Reports say she was swept away by runoff while playing in the rain.
“We were playing outside when it was raining and her slippers fell in the water. I warned her not to get into the water to get the slippers but she refused and before we could know it, she slid and fell into the water and it carried her away” one of the children that was playing with Ashley told Equinox TV.
The 11-year-old’s elder sister said she was surprised to get the news. Sleeping in her room, she knew her younger sibling was in the sitting room. “A few minutes later, the neighbour’s son rushed into the house screaming the little girl that came to the house two days ago just fell into the water” she recounted.
Searches are being intensified with the hope that little Ashley can be found soon and safe.
