Far North: Looted items recovered in ambush of Boko Haram fighters

By Joe-Pavel Nyuysuliy

Several items were recovered in an ambush on Boko Haram elements Thursday, September 21, with three insurgents killed.

Security officials said the looted property belonged to villagers of Galdala, a locality in the Mayo-Tsanaga division.

Motorbikes, clothes and livestock were among items collected after the ambush, L’Oeil du Sahel reported.

The Mayo-Sava, Mayo-Tsanaga, and Logone et Chari divisions in the Far North have repeatedly come under Boko Haram incursion in the past two months.

Some of the communities that have constantly been terrorized by the insurgents, include Modoko, Achigachia, Kerawa, and Hile Alifa where over a dozen deaths were recorded in August 2023.

Hostage taking has also been rampant in the region, with inhabitants having to pay millions to secure the release of relatives.
