A series of events have unfolded lately, undermining the capabilities of Samuel Eto’o as President of the Cameroon Football Federation.
Despite receiving praises from the population for the sweeping changes he is gradually bringing to Cameroon football, some of his collaborators think he is turning the FECAFOOT into a “stage for his personal show”.
Former Secretary General Benjamin Didier Banlock who resigned a few days back, said the main reason for his resignation was because everything within the federation had been made to center around Eto’o, including decision making.
It should be recalled that the former SG got suspended a month ago, over financial mismanagement and corruption allegations.
Besides Didier Banlock’s accusations, Eto’o also recently had a disagreement with the President of the Transitional Council of Professional Football. He was against General Semengue’s suspension of the institution’s SG Paul Mebizo’o.
This did not please the retired army General, who said Eto’o was violating their initial agreement. However, he expressed the wish to have a good working relationship with the FECAFOOT President to accomplish his vision.
All of these challenges indicate that Eto’o has a huge task ahead of him, that of uniting his collaborators till the end of his mandate, despite their differences.
