The mortal remains of makossa legend Francois Nkotti, were removed from the Douala Military hospital on Friday October 1, for burial the following day in Souza. Several personalities present, expressed much grief for losing him.
“I’ve lost a long-time friend. He was an artist and I was a footballer. We knew ourselves like that and it went on. It is true that we were not together all the time. Me being in Europe and him in Cameroon. I feel bad since I learnt of his death” Milla Roger during the corpse removal.
News about the passing of Nkotti Francois broke on Wednesday 4 August 2021, with sources revealing that he died while receiving medical attention.
It came as a huge loss to the music scene in Cameroon as Nkotti Francois influenced the sector for several decades, particularly with makossa. Till his last moments, the 71-year old was still involved in music.
The influential member of Cameroonian music group “Black Styl”, also played a key role in other domains like politics. He served as Mayor of Bonalea, in the Moungo Division of the Littoral Region for 11 years, from 2002 to 2013.
