President Paul Biya has extended his condolences to the family of makossa legend Francois Nkotti, who passed away a week ago.
With much regret for the huge loss to makossa fans and Cameroon as a whole, the Head of State said that Nkotti’s legacy transcends the music sphere. “My wife and I learnt with sadness the passing of Francois Nkotti, your father and close parent. The founder of the group “Black Styl”, was one of makossa’s icons” Paul Biya stated.
He further added that the musician possessed qualities of a good manager and political figure as proven by his role as promoter of the FOMARIC festival and Mayor of Bonalea.
Francois Nkotti died on Wednesday, 4 August 2021, following a malaise. “He felt pain at one moment and we noticed that he had a problem around the abdomen and we asked that an operation should be done on him. The procedure had not even ended and he died” Bob Nehdi, son-in-law.
The Makossa legend who lived for 71 years, was Born on 15 February 1951. Besides music and other activities, he served as Mayor of Bonalea, in the Moungo Division of the Littoral Region for 11 years, from 2002 to 2013.
