Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi, named CAF Vice President

The president of Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, has been named the new Vice-President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for a four year term.

Nyantakyi was nominated for the position by CAF’s new President, Ahmad Ahmad, and had his nomination approved by the CAF Executive Committee during a meeting held on Monday.

He is the first Ghanaian to rise to such prominence within the ranks of African soccer, and is also a member of the CAF Executive Committee. Following his appointment, Nyantakyi, promised to step down from his current position as president of the GFA, when his current term expires.

In March, Kwesi Nyantakyi was voted to represent Africa on the Fifa Executive Council for the second time.
