Government delegates, Mayors and their deputies finally get paid, since 2015!

The final transfers to the accounts were made, according to sources at the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization (MINATD) last weekend.

A total of nearly 900 beneficiaries out of a total of 1305 cases were expected to attend the Committee for the follow-up of the procedures for the payment of basic salaries for municipal magistrates set up jointly by the Minister for Territorial Administration and Decentralization (MINATD) and its Finance counterpart.

According to the Cameroon Tribune on newsstand today; Tuesday 4 April 2017,  Presidential Decree No. 2015/405 of 16 September 2015 fixing the remuneration of Government Delegates, The Mayors and their deputies has finally been put to effect.

We published in a previous post that government delegates, mayors and their deputies had not been paid since 2015, and the prime minister assured them that a first badge of them would be paid ending March.

Well that promise has come to pass as the State has disbursed a budget of 10 Billion Frs to the decentralized territorial authorities with 3 billion CFA francs being allocated for the salary payment of the municipal magistrates.

Cameroon Tribune points out, however, that the salaries paid by the public authorities, which are the same according to whether one is Delegate of the Government, Mayor or Deputy, are different from the benefits and other allowances allocated to them, subject to another decree Of the President of the Republic.
