Today, the 6.5 Million Cameroonians who registered to vote have gone out to perform their civic rights.
All the 9 Presidential candidates have voted, including incumbent president Paul Biya who voted in Bastos, alongside his wife. See pictures:
In several towns in the South West and North West, gunshots have grounded people at home.
In Bamenda, Prime Minister Philemon Yang, The Governor of the North West and a host of others, casted their votes at upstation Bamenda, meanwhile, the other polling stations in Bamenda Town/Nkwen have hardly been visited as Amba Boys block the entrace to the Regional Hospital Bamenda earlier, while gunshots filled the air. In Buea, everybody is indoors, especially as gunshots fill the air in Muea and Mile 18. Nonetheless, the Governor of Buea and a host of others voted at the Court of Appeal.
For over 2 hours at a polling station in Bonamoussadi, there was no activity as SDF members protested that voting will not continue until the SDF ballot papers are replaced after dey were no longer on display. ELECAM officials eventually replaced them, and voting continued.
According to ELECAM, over nineteen thousand Cameroonians in the diaspora registered to vote.
In Beijing, China, which is several hours ahead of Cameroon, voting is over, results were counted and Paul Biya emerged winner.
