Hajj 2024: President Paul Biya supports pilgrims with 1.5 billion FCFA

President Paul Biya has provided subventions worth 1 billion, 560 million FCFA for Cameroonian muslims who will be participating in the 2024 pilgrimage to Mecca.

The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, in a communique, said the money is meant to reduce cost and make the pilgrimage more comfortable for Cameroonians who will be travelling.

“This financial support which comes after the end of Ramadan, will help reduce the cost of the pilgrimage, and make the stay of the pilgrims more comfortable in the holy land” Atanga Nji said.

He also indicated that it aims to enable more Cameroonians to take part in this year’s trip.

The number that will participate in the 2024 Hajj, stands at 4,188 pilgrims, an increase from 3165 in 2023.
