Herve Renard’s cheque with the Lions would have been six times more than his salary in France

Herve Renard was among the three candidates submitted by FECAFOOT for the Indomitable Lions coaching job, which the Ministry of Sports did not consider due to “exorbitant” salary demands.

Renard currently coaches the French women’s national football team with a salary of 400,000 euros (260 million FCFA) a year, according to French newspaper, Le Figaro.

That means his pay cheque with Cameroon would have been six times more, if he was retained. He asked for 1.6 billion FCFA.

Sports Minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi said the state which is responsible for the payment of the coaches, could not disburse such a sum.

The federation and the ministry of sports are yet to come to an agreement on the newly appointed coach Marc Brys.
