The funeral of the Bamoun Sultan Ibrahim Mbombo Njoya, will be from 5-9 October 2021. The dates were chosen and announced on Friday 2 October, by the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of Transport Njoya Zakariaou.
Details of the meeting which brought together the sons and daughters of Noun, indicate that the removal of the mortal remains will be on Tuesday 5 October in Paris, followed by the transfer of the corpse to the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, Thursday 7 October, arrival at the Yaounde Nsimalen Airport at 8:00 pm, prayers and hommage followed by immediate transfer to Foumban.
On Friday 8 October, there will be a wake and then on Saturday 9 October, prayers at the Foumban Central Mosque, followed by the funeral ceremony. Various commissions have been created to ensure that the Sultan gets a befitting burial.
Ibrahim Mbombo Njoya passed on Monday 27 September 2021, in Paris, France. He died at the age of 83.
The Sultan was born on October 27, 1937, in Foumban to his father Sultan Seidou Njimouluh Njoya and his mother Noh Lantana. The then young Prince, who was trained as civil administrator at the Institute of Administrative Studies in Dakar Senegal, had a very rich and exceptional career that effectively started when he was barely 20 years old.
