The head coach of the Indomitable Lions Rigobert Song, has assured Cameroonians that the absence of Choupo Moting and Zambo Anguissa will not affect the team’s performance against Russia in the friendly on Thursday, October 12.
The two players are currently unavailable due to injury. “No matter who is not there, the others are ready to make the difference because a football team is not only two players” Song said during the pre-match press conference.
“I called 24 players, and I think that all of the players merit to be there, to do the work that they came to do” the coach said.
He pointed out that it is also going to give the possibility for others to “express themselves”. Chelsea midfielder Elliott Njongoue was called to fill in for the injured players.
The friendly in Moscow is one of the two preparatory matches scheduled for the Lions this October ahead of the AFCON in January 2024. The team will play against Senegal on October 16.
