The son of former South Africa President Jacob Zuma has died. Vusi Nhlakanipho Zuma died on Sunday after a short illness in a Johannesburg hospital.
Zuma’s spokesperson Vukile Mathabela confirmed the news, but could not provide further details.
The ANC released a statement, saying it is deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Vusi Nhlakanipho Zuma.
“A bright and promising young lion and disciplined member of the ANC, Nhlakanipho Zuma was a dedicated and a humble activist who took a keen interest in the livelihoods of our people,” the statement read in part.
“His acts of kindness and gentle soul will forever remain in our hearts.”
Vusi Nhlakanipho Zuma, aged 25, was the youngest of the Jacob and late Kate Zuma children.
His siblings are Duduzile and Duduzane Zuma.
