The president of the Cameroon Football Federation, Samuel Eto’o, has signed a decision appointing a new coaching staff for the women’s national football team.
Jean Baptiste Bisseck, replaces Gabriel Zabo, who has managed the team for two years.
The former Coton Sport coach will be assisted by U20 women’s team coach, Ndoumou Mike Josephine, with Ndongo Fouda Adrienne Clemence as goalkeeper’s coach.
Ndougsa Engelbert becomes the new physical trainer, while Ndongo Christiane Sorelle is the new team doctor.
The appointments come at a time when the women’s national football team have not been impressive.
They failed to qualify for the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. This was after an unconvincing performance at the 2023 AWCON during which they were eliminated in the quarter-finals.
Despite having a chance to still secure a place at the world tournament through the Interconfederation playoffs in New Zealand, the Lionesses still failed.
Cameroon occupy the 56th spot in the FIFA women’s ranking. The new staff is expected to improve the team’s performance which has immensely dropped since the 2019 World Cup display in France.
