The second Wouri bridge in Douala-Cameroon, which was launched by the president of the country; H.E Paul Biya, is apparently making progress towards completion.
The foundation stone was laid by H.E President Paul Biya himself in October 2013, to reduce congestion and traffic in Douala, and ease exchange between the different parts of Cameroon at different ends of the bridge.
According to the then minister of Civil Works; Minister Patrice Amba Salla, the work was supposed to take 44 months, that’s about 2 years to complete, but over 3 years later, the construction work is still going on.
According to reports on National TV; the major part of the work has just been completed; which was the joining together of the two bridges, because the completed version is going to carry five traffic lanes, two rail bridges and two sidewalks.
