The Delegate General for National Security Martin Mbarga Nguele, has assured Cameroonians that the ordeal they used to go through in making passports is over, with the arrival of the digital system of producing the document.
With much satisfaction, the Statesman made the public understand on Friday July 2, that the procedure promises to be faster than it had earlier been announced “this is the reality that we are experiencing. The first passports have been delivered this day before the deadline of 48 hours. This is to confirm that the activities have effectively started” Mbarga Nguele declared as pioneer holders of the new passports collected their identification booklets.
Applicants residing far from Yaounde, will no longer have to travel to the capital city; their information will be transmitted instantly to the production center no matter their location of enrollment, the Delegate General disclosed.
He cautioned every Citizen to avoid getting involved in corrupt practices in the name of making the so-called “Express Passports”, that have never existed. He added that they should not hesitate to call the number “1500” (free) in case of coercion into any suspicious transactions.
The National Security Boss stressed that the cost of a passport in Cameroon is 110,000 FCFA, adding that “I want to tell every Cameroonian who wants to obtain a passport, that there is only one procedure to follow which is taking a rendezvous online at the enrollment center of your location” he stated.
These centers are in all 10 Regions and diplomatic consulates out of the country. It should be recalled that the new system of making passports in Cameroon was introduced on 1st July 2021.
