Francis Ngannou stunned the world in his first professional boxing match against the world’s heavyweight champion Tyson Fury who won by split decision.
Ngannou survived ten rounds to the surprise of many, who felt four months were not enough for him to train and avoid a knockout in the Riyadh fight.
The Cameroonian signed a multi-fight deal with the PFL in May after leaving the UFC, and immediately engaged in boxing training.
His extraordinary performance on Saturday night was magnified by a knockdown which he inflicted on Fury in the third round.
“I won that fight, there’s no question about it. Even before getting here, I knew that if this fight got to decision, I’m not winning not because I didn’t do good, but because I’m a new guy in the house” Francis said.
“I learned a lot tonight about the sport” he added.
The 37-year-old said “this just got me excited and hungry”. He said he would like to have another fight arranged.
