Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged winner of the hotly contested 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.
INEC chairman, Professor Yakubu Mahmood, declared the results in the early hours of Wednesday, March 1.
The former Governor of Lagos polled 8,794,726 votes, ahead of PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar with 6,684,520.
Peter Obi came third with 6,101,533.
The president-elect in his acceptance speech, thanked Nigerians for voting him. “You have given me the greatest honour you can bestow on one man. In return, I will give you my utmost as your next president and commander-in-chief” Tinubu, 70, said.
He promised youths undivided attention to their education. “Credits will be available. Education loan will be available. Four years course will be four years course”.
Tinubu Ahmed Bola, takes over from Muhammadu Buhari, who comes to the end of his two terms as President of Nigeria.
