The Governor of the Northwest region, Adolph Lele L’Afrique, has assured teachers and students/pupils that stringent measures have been taken to ensure their security as the current school year gradually picks up steam.
A week into the academic year, turnout in several establishments in the region, is yet to look impressive. After observing the situation, and understanding that insecurity is the main cause, Governor Adolph Lele L’Afrique called on the population to be confident in the measures they have taken.
“A special device has been designed by the security officers. The school family should be rest assured that all measures will be taken. We are just asking the population to accompany the security forces in that regard” Adolphe Lele L’Afrique.
Education officials are yet to come to terms with disturbing figures of the damages caused so far. “With close to 600 colleges that we have in the region, about 500 have either been partially or totally destroyed. We’ve had about 90 teachers who have been kidnapped and tortured…some of them murdered” Ngwang Roland, Northwest Delegate for Secondary Education.
The Governor has called on the population to collaborate with the defense forces for a smooth school year in the Northwest region.
