“People say I am too old at 70 but Blatter was re-elected at 78”- Issa Hayatou as Ahmad emerges president of CAF

Cameroonian; Issa Hayatou who has served for 29 years as president of the Confederation of African Football(CAF) leaves as Ahmad Ahmad from Madagascar emerges as new president after being voted with 34 votes over Issa Hayatou who bagged 20 votes in a keenly contested election which took place this Thursday; March 16th at Addis Ababa; Ethiopia.
Ahmad Ahmad is 57 years old and was a football player and coach before leading the Madagascar football confederation in 2003.
In an interview after the elections Issa Hayatou said: “People say I am too old at 70, but Blatter was re-elected at 78. They want me to go now? Ok, I am going.”
Congrats are in order for Ahmad who was seriously rooting for change at the top of the CAF administration.
