French President Emmanuel Macron is on the second day of his visit to Cameroon, which he has said is for a strategic purpose.
After arriving the Central African country on Monday, July 25, the 44-year-old President proceeded with a meeting this Tuesday with Cameroon’s Head of State Paul Biya, and a press conference during which both country heads highlighted the stakes of the visit.
“It is not by chance that I decided to come to your country for the first phase of this African tour, the first since my reelection” Macron stated.
He pointed out that he chose the country “because of the relation and friendship shared by Cameroon and France, also because Cameroon is a strategic partner in Central Africa, with whom I wish to consecrate much time during this my second mandate”.
He added that another reason is the admiration he has for the youth of Cameroon. “The level of excellence of graduates from Cameroon some of whom are here present are a source of pride for the country,” he noted during the conference.
Emmanuel Macron was meeting with Paul Biya for the fourth time. Their discussions touched on the current world food crisis, the war in Ukraine, terrorist threats, climate change, and the expansion of the agricultural sector.
