President Paul Biya fires Police Commissioner

The president of the republic of Cameroon Paul Biya has fired the Commissioner of the 14th Police District in Yaounde Nyallanke Luc Sylvain, as his first action in the country since his return from Switzerland.
Sylvain has been Commissioner of the 14th Police District in Yaounde since his appointment in 2014, and he has also served as head of the Investigative bench at the Judicial Police in Yaounde.
His dismissal is contained in a press release made public on Wednesday 25 October 2017, signed by the president of the republic.
The press release failed to make mention of why the president handed Commissioner Nyallanke Luc Sylvain the sack.
According to the release, the head of state in his decision stated that the Minister of Finance Alamine Ousmane Mey, and the Delegate General for National Security Martin Mbarga Nguélé, should make sure they fully apply the decision.
The firing of Commissioner Nyallanke Luc Sylvain is the first major action taken by President Paul Biya since his return to the country last week end, following his prolong stay in Europe after participating in the 72nd UN General Assembly in the US.
