The Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Ngannou Djoumessi, is scheduled to have a working visit to the North West and West regions in order to evaluate the progress of road projects.
One of the country’s most discussed road construction works is in the North West region linking the West region. The Babadjou-Matazem stretch which has had several delays and is yet to reach completion, will be inspected by the Minister to assess setbacks.
His three-day visit will run from July 3 – 5, and will bring together the project teams from the North West and West regions, administrative authorities, mayors concerned, and other local representatives.
The road works are financed by the World Bank. It includes the Bamenda-Bambui road serving the University of Bamenda.
Minister Emmanuel Ngannou Djoumessi has pointed out that the slow execution of the works in the North West is due to shortcomings in technical governance and payment arrears. He also indicated that the Babadjou-Matazem road works will be completed by the end of 2023.
