Roadside bomb kills 8 in Puntland Somalia

A roadside bomb blast in Somalia on Sunday struck an army convoy carrying Puntland troops positioned in Galgala Mountains killing 8 soldiers and injuring three others, police official Ahmed Mohamed said.

Mohamed told the Associated Press that Sunday’s blast targeted a military convoy located south of the commercial city of Bossaso in Bari region of the country.

The military convoy belonging to Puntland state forces was targeted in the blast planted by the roadside as the convoy was moving from Galgala towards Bosaso city.

Puntland forces have bases near Galgala and have been fighting al-Shabaab group in the areas, however, Puntland government officials haven’t released any statement in regard to the attack against security forces or the causalities behind the blast.
