The Chairperson of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, has said the G27 group accusing him of violating the party’s constitution, have one excuse “I should hand the party over to them”.
He was speaking during the National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting, held in Yaounde on Saturday, 25 February.
Ni John Fru Ndi, with his Vice President Joshua Osih and other top officials of the party, jointly dismissed the rebelling group led by ex-regional president for Littoral, Jean Michel Nintcheu.
“The only politician in this country that has gone to court several times, taken by members of the party. And their excuse to take me to court is that I should hand the party over to them” Fru Ndi said.
“If they talk of anybody as a democrat in the politics of Cameroon, I think I can pride myself that I should be the first” the 81-year-old added.
He pointed out that his health is failing, but the members don’t care. “For three years now, I’ve been crying to you people that I’m sick. Nobody has ever asked me how is that illness. They take me to court in Mfou, so that I should drive from here to Mfou”.
The G27 did not attend the recent NEC meeting. They met in Douala three days earlier, and made it clear that they will not be part of the gathering.
