22 years old Brazilian photographer, Mariana Gordoy took a series of photos of Fat women posing in their underwear in a photo series titled ‘Empoderarte Me’ meaning ‘Empowering me’. The women were protesting against fat shaming by painting slogans on their bodies like: ‘My body my rules’, ‘Fat and healthy’ amongst others. The photographer’s aim for the photo shoot is to empower fat women by instilling a high degree of self-acceptance in them, and to make them feel confident and beautiful. All the women in the photos volunteered to take the photos in their underwear. This is such a brilliant campaign especially in a society where fat women are pressured to think they are not gorgeous enough. See some of the photos below:
