A video is making rounds on social media of Mrs Regina Mundi pledging allegiance to the Ambazonian independence cause, from an undisclosed location. It is possible she made the declaration under coercion.
Multiple reports have confirmed that she was taken hostage on Saturday, April 30, around Foncha Street in Bamenda, the chief town of the Northwest Region.
More sources reveal that the ADF who ‘charged’ her with high treason, are asking for government’s release of their leaders in exchange for the senator’s freedom.
In the video circulating online, Regina Mundi could be seen saying “I Madam Regina Mundi, an Ambazonian by birth and nationality, today 30th April 2022, resign and join our brothers to fight and push ‘La Republique’ out of our territory”, she read from a piece of paper.
“We ask ‘La Republique’ to maintain their boundaries…We should note that it is our right to fight and maintain our territorial integrity” the senator added.
She is one of the numerous State officials kidnapped as a result of the escalation of the crisis in the Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon.
Senator Regina Mundi was appointed by President Paul Biya in 2018. She represents the CPDM in Cameroon’s Upper House of Parliament.
